Meet the imec.istart Summer 2022 cohort

In our Summer 2022 call we selected 9 promising tech startups that are now being prepared for a year to scale up and break through internationally. Each of these startups can count on an investment of 50,000 euros, which can rise to 250,000 euros. 
 
This year we truly have the wind in our sails. We celebrated our 10th anniversary (browse the pictures), a milestone because imec.istart was the very first venture accelerator in Belgium. Also this year, the 500 million euro mark in follow-up funding was reached. In just a few months, that figure even rose to more than 600 million euros. 
 

Diversity of ideas 
 

"During this call, we once again see the social trends towards more renewable energy and more economical energy consumption, a healthier lifestyle, and efficiency gains in business processes demonstrated," Sven De Cleyn, program director of imec.istart, notes. "The diversity of ideas and original angles that entrepreneurs come up with to tackle challenges continues to amaze." 
 
These are the 9 startups that have been selected into the new 2022 summer cohort of imec.istart's accelerator program: 

• Geriatro: online marketplace for temporary stays in care facilities. The platform strengthens the functional bond between hospitals and residential care centers and gives breathing space to family or informal carers with a heavy care function. 
• Jamstud.io: is a virtual music studio in which you can make music in sync and connect. The annoying latency is completely gone. 
• Levels Diagnostics: develops reliable, affordable, and fast tools to determine the presence of diseases. The first tools can be used anywhere in the world to diagnose a bacterial infection and detect liver cancer. 
• Smartgrid One: developed a controller that works as a smart link between all your energy devices. This smart grid controller takes into account your preferences so that you automatically save the maximum amount of energy. It is a personal energy manager for your home or business that takes actions such as real-time adjustments based on renewable energy (e.g. photovoltaic or wind), and dynamic control of charging stations, battery systems, heat pumps, and other energy-consuming devices. 
• TactSim: is an advanced, VR-based safety training simulator used for police training and private security. 
• Talkie: Enables you to arrange and prioritize online meetings at your own pace. 
• Text.ai: provides smart email routing. Every question and email received automatically goes to the right person/department within the company.
• Ceriter: developed a certified medical device (smart insole) for better and more independent walking. The device helps people with walking problems caused by neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease or CVA (stroke).
• EnFoil: produces customized flexible PV foils to be integrated into any product. All outdoor surfaces can become a generator of green energy at an affordable price.
